The Stache

Well, I was looking around campus the other day and I realized something that I should have never forgotten. Mustaches are OK with the honor code! So I set out to grow one. It took me two short days and a dirty upper lip to again realize that staches are hideous, and I am trying to get a second job, so I need to be looking my best. As a result of those findings I am putting off the growth of the stache till after I get the second job. Look out ladies!

i got the sucker!

coolest video ever. i got the sucker.

Employment

Having a job is real nice. Not having to worry about buying food and other such things is a huge relief. I Feel very blessed because I am totally self reliant, well aside from getting everything from Heavenly Father, I am self sufficient. hahaha. My new job as a paralegal is going very well. Out of the new people hired, I am moving along at the quickest pace in term of new employee training.

I have had training every day this week from 5 to 9 PM. Mike, my boss has been letting us out at about 8:15 and I have taken the opportunity to stay till 9 and keep learning my duties. One of the reasons I am doing this is because I was told by President Rhodes that I will keep any job I have as long as I show the management that I am a good hard worker, and that I produce more than I get paid. So, I have been studying credit laws, and learning the system to try and get used to the company, so I can move on up in the organization. So far its working.

School is going well, and I am excited for the end of the semester so I can find another job, and save for school. Another huge blessing of having a job here in Rexburg is that I am able to work many more hours than I otherwise could have if I had to travel to idaho falls. So, I am able to stay in my apartment, ward, and school all year round, and have limited debt! Trials make you stronger, and as a quick shout out to sam/kanye: that that that that that dont kill me, can only make me stronger.... hopefully he reads that. Anyways, I need to sleep. I have an essay to write tomorrow, and some other important homework like a power point presentation for Comm 201: Crucial Conversations in the Business World. Its a great class btw.

today on this fine sabbath, I had an excellent idea. Many times throughout my membership in the church, I have been counseled to keep a journal. For some strange reason, it has always been difficult, but today I had an epiphany. I have an ipodtouch, and I value the thing very much. Well, it has the ability to take notes, and I now am able to "write" in my "journal" which is really typing on my ipod. The reason that this was such a great idea to me is that now I have a way to document my thoughts, and my feelings on life, and various gospel subjects. I am happy because now I can use the entries as support when times are tough, and I also get to share them with others when I deem prudent. To me this seems like a great option.

Other than this, my life is pretty much the same. I go to class everyday, workout everyday, and look for a job....every stinkin day. But, things should pick up soon.

As far as the dates are concerned, I am performing admirably. Since I have arrived at BYU-I I have been blessed with many opportunities to go on dates, but it has only been in the last few weeks that I have really spread my wings and flown. I have had a blast in these last few weeks, going on many dates, and meeting lots of new people. I am also keeping track of traits and values that I like. Personality is a huge deal for me, and I love talking and getting to know different women. I can remember when I was thinking about not coming to Idaho, and I am grateful that I listened to my folks and came back to school here. I have experienced many things, and I count myself lucky to be here.

I guess you could call this a special shout out to my parents. They are exceptional and I am glad that they are mine.

Donating plasma is also an option. Basically, i am ready to do whatever.

In other aspects of my life things are going very well too.

This is a picture of me as I try to finish my math homework. The other is me smiling...I know what your thinking: such good captions. I know. Well, today was very eventful. I had class all day, then applied for a job at a law firm, as a paralegal, and I know the floor manager, and she said I will get an interview, so thats cool, and at 7 I am going western/country dancing with a girl. And I just got back a paper from my writing class. My Prof is a very good teacher, and this draft is two away form the final, due on monday. let me know what you think. I already am going to change and improve the grammar, and add some better verbs. He says details=power, so I am going to spruce it up. Plus I am going to integrate choices and accountability with the Holy Ghost and Satan. So thats all in the works. Here is the paper.

KID

well, here is my attempt at adding pictures. i did ok for the first time. The picture on the right is me right after my hair cut. The one on the left is one of me face down in the snow. I am in a writing group and we need a picture for an inspirational poster. My Professor is a guy who likes us to be creative, so we made a mock inspirational poster. the caption on the bottom of the poster was

FAILURE
Sometimes your best just isn't good enough...

We thought it was funny, plus it filled all the requirements that he gave us. So we were proud. Plus, i was proud to show off my firm looking bottom...hahaha

oh and i thought i should tell you, i have two dates this weekend.

trip

its been a while i know, but here us a new post. I just went to slc this weekend, and i got to see a few old mission companions, drue and ashley, and also some friends from concord. It was really nice to see Devin Belliston. He was my companion when i went to londonderry ward. i had been a missionary for about one year. It was my third area, and i credit him for changing the course of my missionary efforts. He taught me how to be a better missionary, better leader, friend, etc. He really is a great man, and one of my favorite friends. We got to catch up and he was telling me about his girlfriend. He thinks he will be getting more serious with her. I told him i was happy for him, and we will see how that goes.

i also got to see chris tollstrup. he was another missionary that shaped me early on and helped me become a better man. he is now married and so got to visit and catch up with he and his wife.

The trip was very fun, but i am also glad to be home. to me, camping is anytime you do not sleep in your own bed. so i just had a good camping trip. ha ha ha. i think i am going to need to figure out how to put pictures on my blog. i'll work on it.

this weekend was one to remember. i had a crazy friday and saturday, that included two hockey games, and a few dates. Then on Sunday i gave the first lesson of the semester in my gospel doctrine class, and spoke in church.

Lets start with the hockey games. At  byui, the ice rink is out doors. As a result the ice is subject to the weather. If the weather is uncooperative, then the ice is soft, brittle, and prone to cracking. Well, it was warm, and snowy and so the ice was soft and covered in snow. So the games were a bit slower than normal, but it put all the players at the same level; novice. So it was a lot of fun. The team that i play for is the Hawks, and i play left wing, on the first line. The other two players on my line are really good, so hopefully i will get to score every now and again. We had two games, one on friday at 4:30 pm, and the other at 7:00 AM on saturday. We won on friday, 1-0, and lost saturday 2-0. But we are optimistic about the rest of the season.

As for my dates, they were excellent too. I went out with a girl named Cassie Luthy, she is from Illinois, and is a junior. She is studying psychology, and wants to go to grad school, to be a counselor. We had a good time, and if you want to know more, you will have to call. after 9. cause its cheaper. hahaha

and sunday was great. the lesson was about the book of mormon. a little of its history, and a little about its preservation, and its importance to us today. My talk was about agency, and how we need to use our agency to make wise choices. the bishop wanted me to speak to the women about modesty, so i wove agency into that, and spoke. it was well received and i was thanked by the bishopric.

well thats all for now, and i have math class soon, so i will write more later.

Well...

Holy cow,

they said that BYU-I was different. I thought they were just saying that. But I here to tell you, BYU-I is a bonafide university. My first week was like a defibrillator. Man what a shock. I thought I could handle anything. Well, to give you an idea, my first assignment in my writing class is to write 25 pages to accompany 25 pictures that describe who you are. Each page is to be single spaced and 12 font. Another assignment that I got from my Comm 150 class is to make a collage about who you are. I am just so impressed with how much the Profs expect from their students. I am very exited for this semester. I am glad that I got into the University when I did, and that I have much different study habits now than I did before, because I probably would have sunk.

Aside from that, I love my ward, and my roomates are good. Kind or crazy, but good. And I also have more good news! I have a date tonite. And yes Dad, it is with a girl. I will keep you posted on how that goes.
